These Auction and bidding rules are the official record of a live auction on mr.bid Ghana. The bid amount, the time, the high bidder, and the status stored on mr.bid are what count. The timer on your phone is a guide. The server clock is the record.

Scheduling

An auction can start now or up to seven days ahead. It must end after it starts, and at most thirty days after the start. If you do not set an end time, the default duration is seventy-two hours. The default minimum increment is ten Ghana cedis unless the listing sets another increment. A draft or pending listing does not go live on the clock until the listing is published.

Who may bid

You may bid when the listing is live, the auction has started, time has not run out, the listing is not reserved, and you are not the seller. Scheduled auctions reject bids until they start. Bid amounts are whole positive pesewas. After the first bid, each new offer must be at least the current price plus the minimum increment. You can place twenty bids every five minutes. There is no cap on how many times you may raise while the auction is live.

Proxy bids

If proxy bidding is on, you may enter a maximum. mr.bid raises your public bid only as far as needed to stay ahead, up to that maximum. Other people see the current price, not your maximum. Raising your own maximum while you are already high does not change the standing price.

Late bids and close

If a bid lands in the last few minutes, mr.bid can push the end time forward so other bidders have a chance. That window is set by staff (three minutes unless they change it). An auction in its last hour shows as ending soon and still accepts bids.

When time runs out, the highest valid bid wins, earlier bid first if two amounts match. If there is no bid, or a reserve is set and the top bid is under that reserve, the auction ends with no winner. A Buy Now on a combined listing can sell the item to that buyer and close the live auction.

Do not bid on your own auction. Do not use a second account to push the price. If the winner does not arrange payment, the seller may mark the win unpaid and offer the item to the next bidder with the tools on the deal. mr.bid does not collect or refund the item price.
